A Collective Fashion Milestone & Steven Meisel Zara Collaboration
Shot by Photographer Ned Rogers, the first look of the campaign embodies a clean, timeless look and feel, but the strength of this project is much deeper than just that. The follow-up content is prepared and develops into a short, photobooth-like film shot by Steven Meisel, which captures in both a relaxed and genuine manner, the spirit behind the lens is rooted in collaboration, legacy, and passion. Many of the models share a legacy with both Meisel and Zara, so in addition to creating a visual homage to a few decades of fashion, it was primarily about reunion.
The prestige of Templer’s position as stylist provides an important sense of direction and authority to the project, complemented by the exceptional work of a diverse range of creative talent, including makeup by Pat McGrath, hair styling by Guido Palau, nail artistry by Jin Soon Choi, all of whom had the vision and guidance of Duzansky. The behind-the-scenes elements cast by Piergiorgio Del Moro and Giulia Massullo, post-production by Modern Post, all support the idea that an ambitious project like this can come to fruition and be done with such craftsmanship, especially in a moment when the industry continues to grapple with the pressures of rapid-cycle fashion.
A Tribute with Performative Energy
In an interesting turn, but not unexpected, Meisel captured a fun surprise that included part of the ‘making of’ behind-the-scenes reveal that consisted of a musical tribute, set to Donna Summer’s 1970s disco hit “I Feel Love.” All 50 models singing the disco hit, defining one of the different heights of the shoot, joy, energy, and connection. The act was not just one of performance or “look at us”, but a symbolic act of unity across almost 80 years of generational talent.
