Olivia Rodrigo has always had a knack for penning heartbreak anthems, but now she’s proving that she is also talented at breaking the boundaries of the music industry. Rodrigo, at the age of 22, recently completed a massive Guts World Tour with 102 shows across five continents, and surprised everyone, not with a sparkly outfit or random collaboration, but with an unexpected and incredibly thoughtful action.

A brief overview
Health Plan – Olivia Rodrigo Mental Health
Instead of only focusing on herself, Rodrigo personally paid for therapy sessions for her entire band, technical crew, and production team. In an industry notorious for relentless stress, emotional exhaustion, and burnout, she chose to prioritize the mental health of everyone around her.
While many of today’s celebrities talk about the need for mental health awareness, Rodrigo took it a step further; she didn’t just make a statement. She opened her wallet and made it happen. Interestingly, she didn’t even announce it herself; it came out because one of her band members chose to share the story.
Accessible Therapy for Touring Artists
The story was revealed by guitarist Daisy Spencer on the StageLeft podcast. Spencer explained that Rodrigo and tour manager Marty Hom made therapy truly accessible and free for the entire crew.
“I feel like it completely rekindled the importance of therapy for me,” Spencer said. “I just took advantage of it as much as I could.”
Mental Health while on the Road
This wasn’t just a nice press release. Spencer offered specifics of what it was actually like: “I went once a week, once every couple of weeks, whenever I could. Even if there was a break in shows, we still had access to it. It was probably one of the most incredible things I’ve ever been able to do as part of a tour.”
She said that free and accessible therapy is one of the best gifts you can give someone, especially now that mental health care is becoming more and more out of reach financially.
Therapy as a True Gift
Spencer described how it went beyond just having a conversation about childhood on a couch. “I feel like I’m finally doing right by my younger self. It’s a real gift,” she said.
She talked about finally expressing things from her past she’d never been able to voice before. This wasn’t just a corporate strategy—it was something that made a significant and personal difference.
Changing the Conversation About Mental Health
Rodrigo’s act of kindness comes at a time when mental health is one of the hottest topics in pop culture. However, instead of simply lending her voice and adding to the conversation, she took impactful action to help those who make it possible for her to perform live.
By making therapy accessible for her crew, she demonstrates that caring about mental health should involve investing in meaningful resources, not just words.
