There can definitely be discomfort in wearing wigs for a few reasons that are totally valid and amenable: namely, tightness, non-breathable cap, and cap fabric that irritates the scalp. If your wig is tight, itchy or hot, it is likely that the cap does not fit your head, or the wig density is not meant to be worn for extended use.

Short Pixie Cut Synthetic Wig for Women
A tight feel may feel good at a temporary level, but can then later lead to pressure points or headaches. However, with a loose-fitting wig, you create the frustration of always adjusting, or shifting the wig constantly more than is likely aware, and eventually get frustrated with all the physical and mental gymnastics required to make a wig feel normal. There is also something about what the wigs are made of. For leftover synthetic wigs, the lower grade synthetics will usually create a rougher finish on the interior of the cap, which can rub on the scalp, even more so if a wig cap is not worn for added protection underneath.
Ventilation also relates to comfort. Some wigs are simply going to trap more heat between the inside of the cap and your scalp. Or, another type of cap is a thicker cap, or a dense wig; there is not much wig design for ventilation. Heat build-up will happen regardless if you are in a hot climate or if you are wearing a wig for way too long. When wearing a wig, there is no time before heat build-up transgresses to warmth or discomfort. Opting for a wig with open wefts on most levels will help.
For anybody who is moving into a daily experience of wearing wigs for whatever your reason may be – hair loss, fashion hair, or convenience – discomfort can go beyond discomfort on the report of discomfort on the scalp. Comfort can also show up in mood and self-confidence, giving pause for the decision around wearing the wig at all. Comfort is not supposed to be a trade-off in seemingly trying to feel like your standard self.
